This is kind of old, but I was looking for something else, and found this. I always liked it, although I never really finished it...lost interest or got distracted by something else. Oh, by the way, it's coloured pencil (probably prismacolour) on black paper.
You seem to like my coloured pencil work on black paper. You should try it yourself. The thing to keep in mind is to use artist quality pencils. Anyway, thanks you like my sketch.
I love the texture. I really enjoy drawing on black paper, though it is a bit more difficult, probably just because I'm not used to seeing that way. Recently I've been painting on paper a lot, just to fill the spaces when my canvases are drying (or I feel a bit of artist's block, it's easier to get past with paper, because I don't worry about the results so much).
Thanks for your feedback. Yes, it's great to draw on black paper, especially if you have some vibrant colours. I find it gets the creative juices flowing. I know what you mean. It's less daunting to work small on paper. If you can keep that mindset on canvas (not being worried about the outcome too much) then the results are often better, too.
Yeah, but it's hard to keep that mindset when each brush stroke costs money. I've only done real graffiti, with spray cans, a few times, and I kind of felt like that, because the paint goes so quickly and each can costs a few dollars. You just made me think, I want to get back to doing oil pastels more, I find it very easy to work with those. Like, good compromise between the effect I want, cost, and ease of use. Hmm hmm! You have a lot of beautiful work, and you've inspired me a bit, I feel like doing something on black paper again, maybe with oil pastels. Hmmmmmmmm.
