Geometricat 3 by karincharlotte Geometricat 3 by karincharlotte
When I posted Geometricats 2 , I remembered that I had since worked on it some more. So here it is, sort of finished. I haven't decided yet, if I'm going to add whiskers. I always find whiskers problematic, because it can spoil the lovely abstract shapes.
This was done in watercolour, on Arches 300 gsm cold press watercolour paper. Aproximately 1/4 of a sheet of watercolour paper. I'm too lazy to go and measure.

Thanks, Pat! I had a lot of fun creating this one. I love doing this kind of work, and wonder what it would be like to do this large, on canvas.

How do you make the awesome changes in colors? Like going from one shade to another? You have an awesome sense of color.
Man I miss watercolor. I switched to acrylics one year ago :(

Thank you for your lovely comment. I love watercolour, and the secret is in the blending and using strong, transparent colours, and using the wet on wet technique to blend colours on the paper. I often glaze one colour over top of another, which also produces lovely rich colours. I also use artist quality Winsor & Newton paints and Arches 300gsm cold press paper. Good brushes also help, but mostly also a lot of practice. Hope you go back to watercolour. You can do both. I do. I love both mediums. I would find it hard to choose, but if I had to, I'd choose watercolour.
